Using an infrared beam sensor for easier handling and alignment
With the new Double Trough Up-Kicker Opto Board, it is possible to improve the operation significantly.

Simpler construction: The original SEGA / STERN version is based on a visible light beam is generated by a bright red LED. As the recipient is also a light emitting diode which is operated upside down. This principle works rather poorly and is a very accurate adjustment of the light beam ahead. Frequent source of error is and was that of the light beam was not exactly aligned and the light barrier was not working. The new Double Trough Up-Kicker opto board is based on infrared technology .
